James Michael DeSimone, DVM

Doctor James Michael DeSimone, DVM, NREMT, is the owner and chief of medical staff for Tyler Animal Emergency Hospital in Tyler Texas. He also is a contract veterinarian with the U.S. Air Force 24th Special Operations Wing based in Florida. Doctor DeSimone maintains licensure as a veterinarian in multiple states, practicing preventive, emergency, and critical care medicine and surgery, and instructing Operational K9 Tactical Emergency Medicine.

Prior to his current rolls, he served the U.S Air Force on active duty as Public Health Officer, Medical Intelligence Officer, Public Health Emergency Officer, Defense Threat Reduction Agency Assessor, and subject matter expert for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) medical counter measures various bases and deployed locations. In these roles he coordinated with County, State and Federal Public entities protecting more than 600,000 persons and supporting humanitarian and combat operations worldwide. He served on multiple overseas temporary assignments and a Joint combat deployment where he worked with U.S. and International forces on identifying and mitigating chemical/ biological attack protective measures for critical infrastructure and personnel at Forward Operating Bases in East Africa. Additionally, he is published in Homeland Security Today as co-author. Prior to his military service Doctor DeSimone has extensive experience as a member of law enforcement and fire/rescue agencies. Serving in multiple roles to include department officer and lead instructor for numerous courses.
